UPDATE: Shipping Situation in the Asia & Africa Regions

UPDATE: SHIPPING SITUATION IN THE ASIA & AFRICA REGIONS

Gulbrandsen Technologies (GTI)  |  April 29th, 2024

Dear Valued Business Partners;

At Gulbrandsen Technologies (GTI), we believe that timely and transparent communications form the foundation of successful and healthy relationships. Based on this principle, it is GTI´s commitment to maintain our stakeholders always informed of all the situations, even those beyond our control, that may potentially impact product delivery schedules.

Over the past few weeks, various weather and logistics challenges have led to significant congestion at several key ports in Asia and Africa. Specifically, ports such as Durban (South Africa), Port Klang North (Malaysia), Jebel Ali (UAE) and Singapore have been experiencing notable delays, averaging around 8-10 days for both transshipment and destination purposes.

In light of these circumstances, we kindly request all our partners to factor in an additional lead time of 1-2 weeks for each purchase order destined for South East Asia and Africa.

Furthermore, due to surge in demand, airports in India are experiencing a backlog of 10-12 days, coupled with notably higher freight rates.  We anticipate these conditions persisting in the coming months, until improvements are seen in both the port congestion in Asia/Africa and the situation regarding the Suez Canal Route Suspension.

At GTI, we are diligently monitoring every shipment that departs from our plants and sharing weekly reports with all our customers and distributors. Our Supply Chain and Logistics teams are in continuous contact with shipping lines to understand specific implications in terms of time and cost for each location, and are implementing corrective actions in production and inventory planning.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your commercial representative or customer service contact.

We are in this together!
