UPDATE ON SUEZ CANAL ROUTE SUSPENSION
Gulbrandsen Technologies (GTI) | February 29th, 2024
Valued Business Partners;
We request all our partners to consider an average of 3-4 weeks of additional lead time for each purchased order placed for Europe, US, and Latin America.
The Red Sea continues to be a key focal point of geopolitical tension. Reports indicate that over 33 ships have been attacked in the region, causing a major disruption in global trade, and forcing shipping companies to re-route all their vessels around the Cape of Good Hope. We have no certainty on when this situation will end, and the news received by our logistics team indicate that the new transhipment ports are experiencing high congestion levels, causing new delays in global ocean shipments.
At GTI, we are diligently tracking every shipment that departs from our plants in India, Indonesia and Malaysia, closely monitoring potential ETA changes, and immediately communicating the impact to our customers, distributors and warehouse managers. Our Supply Chain and Logistics teams are in continuous contact with shipping lines to understand specific implications in terms of time and cost for each location, and are implementing corrective actions in production and inventory planning.
Although GTI has no control over the consequences of this situation, our responsibility and our pledge is to work in a transparent and timely manner with our valued partners.
Please feel free to reach out to your commercial representative, or customer service contact, should you have any questions or concerns.
We are in this together!
Sincerely,
Gulbrandsen Technologies Team

SUEZ CANAL TEMPORARY ROUTE SUSPENSION – Update
Gulbrandsen Technologies | January 5th, 2024
Valued Business Partners;
As the tension in the Red Sea area increases, Gulbrandsen Technologies continues monitoring the potential impact on every single container shipped from our India and Indonesia plants, to the main ports in Europe, Latin America and the US. The most recent information received from the shipping lines, confirms that an important number of vessels has been rerouted via Africa’s southern Cape of Good Hope, negatively affecting standard lead times and freight costs.
Gulbrandsen Technologies’ Customer Service and Sales Teams are continuously working on assessing the transit time impact per container, and sharing real time information with all our partners. Additionally, our Supply Chain team is currently working with extended lead times in the production planning, and raising inventory levels in the affected locations. These actions will allow Gulbrandsen Technologies to reduce the risk of delayed deliveries to our customers in the following months.
While the conflict continues, we highly encourage all our partners to consider an increased lead time of approximately 2 – 3 weeks for every purchase order placed with GTI. Gulbrandsen Technologies is making every possible effort to contain the cost impact arising from the prevailing situation. However, we may have to approach customers with temporary cost corrections in due course of time.
Our organization’s priority is to keep our customers informed at all times and keep our communication channels always open. Please feel free to reach out to your commercial representative at your convenience, should you have any questions or concerns to discuss with us.
We are in this together!
Sincerely,
Gulbrandsen Technologies Team
